Trackmaster Hiro Good as New Review

Trackmaster Hiro Good as New
Average Reviews:

I purchased this 'Engine' for my son to add to his never ending collection of Thomas & Friends Trackmaster toys. Once the movie came out it was all he could talk about. Local stores ran out quickly and I was lucky enough to find Hiro at Amazon.com. Great little toy. It is motorized, so it goes around trackmaster tracks. It is quite quiet compared to other engines I've purchased. It does take batteries that are not included. Overall a great little toy. I don't see any educational value in 'this' toy but I do believe Thomas & Friends is a very good show that teaches values all kids should learn.

Thomas the Tank Water Tower Steam Set Review

Thomas the Tank Water Tower Steam Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My son who has recently turned 3 years old LOVES this toy. My sister has just gave it to him as a birthday present yesterday.
The instructions are not very clear. It took me some time to figure out how to make Thomas work properly. It requires3 AA batteries, one at the bottom of Annie and two on top (you need to remove the upper part to insert the batteries). This was ok in the instructions, no problems at all.
After placing the batteries, filling the water tank and Thomas with water, my son was so frustrated to see there was no red light in the funnel and that it was not making any sound, nor puffing steam. I thought it was just a matter of waiting a few minutes, but nothing happened.
I noticed that all water that was filled inside Thomas came off from the bottom, I thought that was the problem, but I think this is supposed to happen as there is a place for the water to be stored on the left of the water tower, so I guess the excess of water really needs to come out (If you don`t want your floor to be wet, be sure to assist your child and have a towel handy to remove the excess of water that is stored at the bottom of the water tower everytime your child fills in Thomas with water, or they may make it fall on the floor).
After many attempts to make Thomas puff steam, I decided to search on the Internet for instructions on how to use this toy and I found a manual on line where I saw there is another on/off switch button at the bottom of Annie.
I took my son`s train and noticed that this bottom was on the off position, then I switched it to the on position, placed Thomas on the tracks, but then again, nothing happened. Then I decided to replace the batteries with new charged ones and, voilá!
It began to make sounds and puff steam.
The instruction manual that came with the toy doesn`t show this button in the picture or mention it anywhere. So if you have purchased this toy and it`s not working or if you are going to purchase it, check if this other button at the bottom is switched on, if it still does not work, put new batteries on (requries 3 AA batteries).
I think these are the tricks.
You also need to show your child how to use it in the beginning. It is important not to fill the funnel from where the steam comes out with water (I think children may want to try to put water in there), there is a small whole on Thomas where the water must be poured into, but after I showed my son how to use it, he learned it without problems.
My son has been playing with it all day and it`s working very well.
I will only give 4 stars because the instructions are poor, but the toy is a nice one and works well. My son is a huge Thomas the tank fan, he has lots of trains and hundreds of tracks and he really loves this steam train.
If you are looking for a present to a child, also consider buying the wooden trains. My son loves these plastic trains, but he also loves the wooden ones. They are more expensive, but very nice for children and he seems to interact more with the wooden trains. There are also the die cast trains, less expensive than the wooden ones, but my son says he prefers the wooden ones than the diecast versions.
He says that the Steam Thomas and the wooden ones are his favorite.
Anyway, it varies from child to child. This is what my son says that he likes. :o)
Hope my review will be helpful.

Thomas and Friends TrackMaster New Character Introductions - Hank - US Engine Review

Thomas and Friends TrackMaster New Character Introductions - Hank - US Engine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Design of this product makes no sense at all, and consequently it is a big disappointment to kids and a huge waste of money. There are three cars that are part of this toy. A locomotive followed by 2 other cars. You would think they would have had the battery go in the locomotive, so that car would have the power and pull the other 2 cars behind it so it could operate in a straight line or stay on tracks. But no. Instead they put the battery in the second car, the one BEHIND the powerless locomotive. Result: the second car pushes the locomotive and causes the entire thing to jack-knife almost immediately, and to just go around and around in circles. Nothing can be done about it. My son's friend has the same train and his has the same problem. Just around in circles and won't stay on a track. I have no idea what the designer of this product was thinking, but it's a big waste.

Thomas and Friends TrackMaster R/C - Thomas Review

Thomas and Friends TrackMaster R/C - Thomas
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We recently purchased this toy for our 3 year-old to add to his Tomy made Thomas set (uses Trackmaster trains). He loves everything about his R/C Thomas. He loves the sounds, he loves the ability to make him go forward, backward and stop whenever he wants and he loves seeing Thomas going around his track.
I couldn't agree with my son more but with one exception. Because the remote makes a constant "chugga chugga" noise as the train is in motion, the batteries in the remote die very quickly. After one day of playing with it we had to change them. The batteries in Thomas were still fine but because there is constant sound from the remote (unlike comparable GeoTrax train remotes) it can go through batteries very quickly.
Other than that, this was a fantastic addition to our set. Sure, having motorized trains is great but why not have R/C trains that you can control right?

I gave this train to my grandson for Christmas. The wheels-?motor started squealling and stopping on the track shortenly after he started playing with it. I had to return the train and have still, after over 2 weeks, have not heard anything from the place where I purchased it. Makes me wounder about buying on line- no one to deal with such problems- just have to take a leap of faith to get it replaced.

I have no quarrel with the shipper. The product arrived in time and safe and sound. The engine itself is not up to par with other engines I have on my HO scale layout (it skips over turnouts and will not go real slow -- I think it is too lightwieght) but my grandson loves it anyway and I guess that's what counts.

Bachmann Trains Thomas Holiday Special Ready-to-Run HO Train Set Review

Bachmann Trains Thomas Holiday Special Ready-to-Run HO Train Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this from Amazon over a year ago and it definitely looks like a Thomas from a day in snow. Now, I ran him a couple of times and he is a decent runner. The only detail I saw was that he was slightly tilted, which wasn't something I'd expect from Bachmann. However, it didn't bother me too much as he still ran well with the truck that had snow flakes on it, a tanker with a wreath on it, and Emily's coach with Christmas decorations. Overall, this is a very nice product you can add to your Christmas tree when the holidays arrive.

Bachmann Trains Thomas with Annie and Clarabel Ready-to-Run HO Scale Train Set Review

Bachmann Trains Thomas with Annie and Clarabel Ready-to-Run HO Scale Train Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After a few seasons of nervously running my HO-scale model trains around our Christmas tree, I picked up this set (at a local mass retailer for a price much lower than what Amazon.com charges, BTW) for my 4 year-old son. I haven't owned a model train set in over 25 years and remember the horrors of track segments coming apart and locomotives breaking down after a few hours of running. Thankfully, the Annie & Clarabel coaches are heavy and are quite durable; along with the Thomas engine, all three are handsomely painted and well-detailed for an entry-level train set.
EZ-Track is among the greatest inventions in model railroading history - you can assemble the simple circle of track included in this train set in a few minutes and more importantly, the track stays together on carpeting or hard floors and can even be moved slightly without any separation. Plenty of additional track pieces are available on Amazon.com or your local hobby shop if you wish to expand Thomas's branch line.
We have been running this train for several days without incident. My son has been remarkably responsible with this set, and it has been a useful transition for him from the durable wooden trains to scale model railroading.

A great, colorful engine. My son loves this "snowplow choo choo" and still plays with it after a year. The drive shafts move with the wheels. Works with his Thomas set, is much less expensive and higher quality than Thomas.

Bachmann Trains Thomas Fun with Freight Set Ready - To - Run Ho Scale Train Set Review

Bachmann Trains Thomas Fun with Freight Set Ready - To - Run Ho Scale Train Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It broke the first day!
I bought this for my 5yr old son for Christmas last year. It looked great, he got it opened and we got it put together easy, and it ran fine. Although even at 100% power it sort of runs slow. It doesn't even run at all at less than 40% power. He had been playing with it all day (about 6 hours) when it stopped working. I opened it up and could smell the burnt plastic. I figured out that there is a complete design flaw in this train. Its motor is housed in plastic that shrinks when it gets hot. When the train has been running the motor heats up and the plastic melts off and the motor comes away from its gears. I believe that the Bachmann Co. knows this and they lowered the power that the motor can use to solve the heat problem, that's why it doesn't do anything until about 50% power. Also the wheels are just barely on there and its overall cheep junk.
Bachmann has a 1year and life time warranty. So I sent it to them and we got it back 3 months later. My son was really upset. We got the train back and I put it away.
Now its Christmas 2010 and we had just set up the tree this year and got out the Thomas HO scale train and my son had it running around the tree.
This time it took 2 days but IT MELTED AGAIN!!!. And this time I was trying not to let it get hot! I was trying to have him give the train a break and cool down. And now I started to read any other reviews on other Bachmann trains and I found out that I am not alone.
I'm going to send it back in to get repaired (it will cost $15 this time. And when it comes back Christmas will be over, so since we have all of this track (I bought extra) I am going to get my boy another train set. But I don't know what to get.
I will never buy Bachmann again, and I also have read that Athearn has terrible problems with trains wheels falling off and that they are junk too!
I hope that you read this and consider that if you buy Bachmann, then your wasting your money!
I suggest to either go with Life-Like trains because they are cheap, but they do have jerky movements, and are too light and derail often, but the motor doesn't melt when you use it! And they are mostly durable. Or go with Atlas Trains.
I think that I am going to buy a set from Atlas, but there is no selection!
I wish that these corporations would listen to their customers and build quality products instead of just trying to rip people off!

If your child enjoys acting out the Thomas video series, George is a villain in the stories. He is no friend to railway engines whatsoever. He thinks that rails should be replaced with roads, and that's just what he spends most of his time doing. As he moves along, he features a spinning flywheel and roller drum. Perfect for any Thomas roadway fanatic.

George is a grumpy fellow - and no friend of railway engines. According to George, "Railways are no good. Pull 'em up. Turn 'em into roads." In fact, this sour steamroller spends most of his time doing just that. For use with Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway System sets (sold separately).
