(More customer reviews)This is an old-fashioned train set: durable, simple, with exposed wiring (very safe). But, despite huge effort, we simply could not get it to go fully around the track. The wheels of the lead locomotive, the one that supplies the power, simply would not stay in the groove. After 45 minutes, it had not been able to make even a single pass around the track.
I've built a lot of toys, and have a technical background, so obvious "you don't know what you are doing" problems are not the root cause. My wife and kid spent a bunch of time working on it, too. It's a gift, so we cannot return it, and don't want to give it to anyone else.
Extremely disappointing. A waste, really.

Thomas And Friends Wooden Railway - Steaming Around Sodor Battery Powered Set Review

(More customer reviews)This track does not fit together properly. One side has a 4 inch piece and a 6 inch piece (total: 10). The other side has a 4 inch piece and a 8 inch piece (total: 12). Because of the missing 2 inches, the train falls off the corners and gets stuck under the bridge.
Incredibly frustrating trying to put this together. Fortunately, I Googled the set's name and found a bunch of reviews on Target.com elaborating on the same problem.
(Note the bridge support pieces don't hold together well either.)
