BRIO Light and Sound Timber Train Review

BRIO Light and Sound Timber Train

We originally bought a battery operated train that moves on its own along the track but that didn't work well for our young children. They wanted to push it along faster or backwards or just stop it while it was moving and that causes damage to the train and was confusing to the kids. The liked the train because of the light and sound but were frustrated by not knowing how to play with it.
This train is a great idea in that it works like any other train for the wooden tracks; you just push it along. However the children also get the light and sound that they liked from the other train, just without the confusion.
The two trailing cars are a good value given the engine by itself is not much less. Young kids might have problems with these cars since the logs separate from the carrier so they are a bit more complicated to push or pick up. Still this is a nice set. We also got a green diesel engine that works the same way and there is also an orange light and sound engine available that looks nice.
This engine has been stepped on and thrown about the room and has stood up well. This is highly recommended for young children (2-4).

Bachmann Trains Deluxe Thomas and Friends Special Ready-to-Run HO Train Set Review

Bachmann Trains Deluxe Thomas and Friends Special Ready-to-Run HO Train Set
Average Reviews:

This is a great toy for train loving kids, a great upgrade as your child grows out of the wooden version. It has also proven to be a useful way to teach him how to be careful with something. It is not fragile, but nowhere near as durable (obviously) as the wooden (Brio) Thomas trains & accessories, and requires more care and attention.
Useful bit of info: this set only has enough track for a (pretty boring) oval. If you want to expand it, you need to know which color ez-track comes in the set (Bachman EZ track comes in two colors: black and grey roadbed). None of the pictures or descriptions I was able to find told that: it's the black roadbed. This is a bit of a disadvantage, and my only complaint, as the number of expansion options from bachmann for the black roadbed are much more limited than for the grey. I don't know why.

A great, colorful engine. My son loves this "snowplow choo choo" and still plays with it after a year. The drive shafts move with the wheels. Works with his Thomas set, is much less expensive and higher quality than Thomas.

The Old Steam Engine is a stupendous engine! A push-along engine with moving pistons that move faster as the engine goes faster, just like the steam engines of old.Compatible with most wooden train rail systems. Ages 3 and above. 33537

This was overall a good value, especially as compared to the Thomas or Brio brands, but just over half are not actually tracks. They are the people or trees or other items.

Wooden Animal Train Set 7 Piece Review

Wooden Animal Train Set 7 Piece

This is overall a good-quality, fun toy. My 2 year old enjoys playing with it and she uses her imagination by making the animals "talk" to each other. Great alternative to the noisy plastic toys that have taken over the market.
My only complaint is that the elephant is MUCH too dark. It's pretty much navy blue. The details are made up of black lines and the lines that make up the ears, for example, are virtually impossible to see.
It's fully compaitble with the brand-name wooden train sets by Brio, Imaginarium, Maxim, Thomas, etc, as well as the generic ones. This toy takes great abuse and I have not experienced any damage like paint chipping off or pieces breaking or falling off (issues I've found with some generic sets). The colors are as bright today as they were when I purchased it 6 months ago. It's durable and not showing excessive signs of wear.
This toy does have fairly strong magnets. Little ones should be supervised so if one does happen to break off, it's not swollowed. I would not recommend this toy to a parent whose child puts everything in their mouth unless they are willing to have an adult present at all times.

Wooden Train Whistle Kids Childrens TOY Conductor Play Thomas Review

Wooden Train Whistle Kids Childrens TOY Conductor Play Thomas

My son makes the choo-choo sound when I play the "what sound does the train make?" and I thought he would enjoy this toy. He likes it when I blow it and he gets fairly excited. However, it does require an amount of wind pressure to effectively make this toy work and he cannot make the sound himself. Given the low cost I think it was well worth it anyway.
