(More customer reviews)This is my first Bachmann locomotive purchase. It would be awesome for a tabletop layout with a few cars. I can't imagine a piece of art of this quality under my tree when I was a kid. However, the toys of men and boys are not the same..I am addressing the toys of men and boys that have moved off the tabletop and onto a garage or club layout that models the real world of grades and constant service. Bachmann makes an upgraded line for this kind of work. They call it Bachmann "Spectrum". I have two "Spectrums" on order and I hope they are weighted so they can pull more than six cars up a grade without the wheel-spinning stop I am experiencing with this model. So, I suspect that Bachmann does really consider this unit a "toy" for boys. Not for men. Hopefully, the "Spectrum" line will be weighted in accordance with the National Model Railroad Standards. In closing, this is a work of industrial art, well worth the discounted price if intended for display or as a "toy" purchase for an appropriate-aged son (or daughter, to be PC). My mistake was in not asking around before I bought this unit with the intent of serious club layout work. Kudos to Bachmann for recognizing and filling the need for this line of model locomotives.
