(More customer reviews)There are two reasons some people have rated this game low.
1)It is compared to Left4Dead, which is unfair to both games
2)People are forgetting it's a budget game ($20.).
Now budget does not mean bad, it only means limited.
Lets look at its limits first:
-It only has six maps
-The animations are a bit rough
-Minimal supported story or characters
-The monster graphics are very good, but still not what you might see on a non budget game.
-The voice acting is so bad as to be laughable, and the repetition of some phrases will make you scream if the zombies don't.
-Only one end boss and although challenging, its pretty silly.
But all that matters is the game play and the game play on this game is fantastic! The game play is slower than L4D, but also more aggressive. The mood is different as you are not only supposed to survive but to exterminate every monster on every single level. It turns your initial "the hunted" into dominance as you go from overwhelming numbers of monsters, to hunting down the very last one.
Positives:
-Gun modeling, presentation and physics is outstanding. You have 12 weapons to choose from and they look and act like you would expect.
-Iron Sights ! In this game you actually look down the sights to fire, and this makes it thrilling. There are no crosshairs (which takes some getting used to), but you will feel much more engaged without having crosshairs float around unnaturally on the screen.
-The maps are OPEN, very open, and you can go anywhere to setup and prepare for the battles in the way you want.
-Team play is critical, but dynamic. The open nature of the maps makes team play different each and every game as you form up based on the perks of your team members and the nature of the monster swarm. And this kind of evolving team play is a blast!
-The community is into the game, but relaxed enough to support pickup games. Drop into a server at anytime and play with a squad, and after the boss battle move onto the next server. Sure there are hardcore clans, but you will be welcome on any open server.
-Perks: This is a fancy way to say leveling. There are multiple classes to choose from and each has five levels to work up to, giving you a higher set of skills.
-Level design: Outstanding as the default levels look and feel graphically like burned out and abandoned locations.
-Death animations: Although the monster movement is stiff, they sure die in spectacular ways. I NEVER tire of ironsight headshots, and the violent ways the monsters buy it.
-Mod Support: There are already several dozen user designed award winning levels, so the initial six level limit is negated the moment you login to the internet.
-ZEDtime slow motion
So this game may lack the polish you are used to with your $40-$60 dollar games, but it certainly doesn't lack at all in game play and team oriented monster killing thrills !
