(More customer reviews)We love this train! My son is a lego enthusiast and a train enthusiast, so this is great for him. His is six, but with a bit of help, was able to build the whole set. More track is a MUST! We like the ability to be creative - to change the track every time we build it. You have to have more track for that. The remote control has worked great. Be sure you push the forward button more that one time. We were pushing it only once, and it was going so slow, we were disappointed. But then we learned that if you push it multiple times, the speed increases - in fact, the train flies around the track! Amazing! This wasn't in the instructions.

Thomas & Friends Trackmaster R/C Thomas at Tidmouth Sheds Review

(More customer reviews)My children really like Trackmaster Thomas toys with the exception of this. The problem is that you have to assemble the sheds and they fall apart if touched. Before Fisher Price offered Trackmaster, it was distributed by Hit Toys. Search Amazon for "Hit Toys Thomas at Tidmouth Sheds" and you'll see more reviewers with the same problem. It took me an hour to get the sheds together and then about 5 minutes of play for them to fall apart. It became frustrating to both me and my children. After about a week of trying to make the sheds work we gave up. The other items in the set are nice, but the sheds is what children want the most.

Lionel Thunder Valley Quarry Mine O-Gauge Train Set Review

(More customer reviews)We bought just the dockside locomotive (available as Lionel 6-30124-e), not the whole Thunder Valley set. This is one cool little steam locomotive, and it works exceptionally well! The fact that it doesn't have a separate coal tender makes very nimble, and with front and rear operating couplers, it can pull or push in either direction. It's a great looking little steam engine that has lots of great details...brass bell, brass whistle, lighted cabin with engineer & fireman figures, operating smoke stack, operating horn, forward/neutral/reverse, front and rear directional lights, and metal hand rail. It's loaded for such an inexpensive engine. It's also solidly built with die cast metal body, and is powerful enough to pull the loads of a full size locomotive. This is a very capable, very neat little dockside steamer that has a great sounding horn, and is a lot of fun. It's a great way to get started or expand an existing setup with. Highly recommended!

(More customer reviews)We bought this to add to an existing Lionel set. It has enough power to pull at least five or six cars. It goes forward and in reverse and the whistle sounds. The engine is stable and it is hard to derail it. We ran it at full speed on a O-36 Fastrack loop and it stayed on the track. The details look nice. The eyes go back and forth and you can change the faces, but we never do so. For the money it is a nice engine.

Trackmaster Hiro Good as New Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this 'Engine' for my son to add to his never ending collection of Thomas & Friends Trackmaster toys. Once the movie came out it was all he could talk about. Local stores ran out quickly and I was lucky enough to find Hiro at Amazon.com. Great little toy. It is motorized, so it goes around trackmaster tracks. It is quite quiet compared to other engines I've purchased. It does take batteries that are not included. Overall a great little toy. I don't see any educational value in 'this' toy but I do believe Thomas & Friends is a very good show that teaches values all kids should learn.

(More customer reviews)This is a fun train for the under 7 crowd, boys and girls. Our 3 year old granddaughter loves setting this up and tearing it down.
The heavy duty snap tracks are durable and easily assembled by young hands. The Engine is powered by a single AA battery, meaning no electric wires or plugs or polishing the track! The only tool needed is a phillips head screwdriver to insert the battery.
We bought 2 different Thomas Train sets, both use the same tracks and same styled engines, so they are interchangeable and are readily lengthened.
This is a fun, quickly assembled project, that is inexpensive and entertaining to young children.

(More customer reviews)This Lionel engine is well made and provides hours of entertainment. I would give a couple of cautions to parents: 1) wait until your child is 8 years old as Lionel recommends. Setting up an electric train set can be very frustrating to younger children. 2) Look at the HO scale first. If your kids played with the wooden or take-a-long Thomas they are use to playing with small toys. The HO scale Thomas train sets are a lot cheaper (an entire HO train set cost half as an O scale engine). If they tire of electric trains quickly, you're not out a lot of money.

We just put it together today but I can tell it is a huge hit already. We were skeptical about it because I couldn't find any reviews before purchasing. (More customer reviews)Marklin is to trains what the swiss are to watches. You pay a lot but they aren't for kids and they can be passed on for generations like a fine watch. The detail and craftsmanship for these Z scale trains is crazy with each car being like an inch long however because they are so small the parts are tiny and can be broken easily so no kids allowed within 10 feet of these. I own a few other marklins and longest one I've owned is 30 years now and still runs like a champ! It still cost me over a hundred dollars for a beginner set way back then.

Thomas the Tank Water Tower Steam Set Review

(More customer reviews)My son who has recently turned 3 years old LOVES this toy. My sister has just gave it to him as a birthday present yesterday.
The instructions are not very clear. It took me some time to figure out how to make Thomas work properly. It requires3 AA batteries, one at the bottom of Annie and two on top (you need to remove the upper part to insert the batteries). This was ok in the instructions, no problems at all.
After placing the batteries, filling the water tank and Thomas with water, my son was so frustrated to see there was no red light in the funnel and that it was not making any sound, nor puffing steam. I thought it was just a matter of waiting a few minutes, but nothing happened.
I noticed that all water that was filled inside Thomas came off from the bottom, I thought that was the problem, but I think this is supposed to happen as there is a place for the water to be stored on the left of the water tower, so I guess the excess of water really needs to come out (If you don`t want your floor to be wet, be sure to assist your child and have a towel handy to remove the excess of water that is stored at the bottom of the water tower everytime your child fills in Thomas with water, or they may make it fall on the floor).
After many attempts to make Thomas puff steam, I decided to search on the Internet for instructions on how to use this toy and I found a manual on line where I saw there is another on/off switch button at the bottom of Annie.
I took my son`s train and noticed that this bottom was on the off position, then I switched it to the on position, placed Thomas on the tracks, but then again, nothing happened. Then I decided to replace the batteries with new charged ones and, voilá!
It began to make sounds and puff steam.
The instruction manual that came with the toy doesn`t show this button in the picture or mention it anywhere. So if you have purchased this toy and it`s not working or if you are going to purchase it, check if this other button at the bottom is switched on, if it still does not work, put new batteries on (requries 3 AA batteries).
I think these are the tricks.
You also need to show your child how to use it in the beginning. It is important not to fill the funnel from where the steam comes out with water (I think children may want to try to put water in there), there is a small whole on Thomas where the water must be poured into, but after I showed my son how to use it, he learned it without problems.
My son has been playing with it all day and it`s working very well.
I will only give 4 stars because the instructions are poor, but the toy is a nice one and works well. My son is a huge Thomas the tank fan, he has lots of trains and hundreds of tracks and he really loves this steam train.
If you are looking for a present to a child, also consider buying the wooden trains. My son loves these plastic trains, but he also loves the wooden ones. They are more expensive, but very nice for children and he seems to interact more with the wooden trains. There are also the die cast trains, less expensive than the wooden ones, but my son says he prefers the wooden ones than the diecast versions.
He says that the Steam Thomas and the wooden ones are his favorite.
Anyway, it varies from child to child. This is what my son says that he likes. :o)

Bachmann Trains 2-8-4 Berkshire Nickel Plate 759 - Rail Fan Version Review

(More customer reviews)This is my first Bachmann locomotive purchase. It would be awesome for a tabletop layout with a few cars. I can't imagine a piece of art of this quality under my tree when I was a kid. However, the toys of men and boys are not the same..I am addressing the toys of men and boys that have moved off the tabletop and onto a garage or club layout that models the real world of grades and constant service. Bachmann makes an upgraded line for this kind of work. They call it Bachmann "Spectrum". I have two "Spectrums" on order and I hope they are weighted so they can pull more than six cars up a grade without the wheel-spinning stop I am experiencing with this model. So, I suspect that Bachmann does really consider this unit a "toy" for boys. Not for men. Hopefully, the "Spectrum" line will be weighted in accordance with the National Model Railroad Standards. In closing, this is a work of industrial art, well worth the discounted price if intended for display or as a "toy" purchase for an appropriate-aged son (or daughter, to be PC). My mistake was in not asking around before I bought this unit with the intent of serious club layout work. Kudos to Bachmann for recognizing and filling the need for this line of model locomotives.

Bachmann Trains Overland Limited Ready - To - Run Ho Scale Train Set Review

(More customer reviews)The Bachmann HO Overland Limited Train Set is an absolutely beautiful train set if all you want to do is look at it. If you want to operate the Overland Limited Set or play with it, BUY SOMETHING ELSE: The wheels fall off and will not stay on as the train navigates the snap-fit tracks built for it. The Train does not get around the entire loop of tracks without losing nearly all its wheels on the main car as well as the accompanying nine cars. Flipping the switch on the terminal rerailer amounts to a derailment because the wheels can't handle turns. The worst part is the merchants selling this product know this and will not accept returns or issue refunds or exchanges once the item has been opened. It is a very expensive Train Set which is frustrating especially when I think about the fact that I purchased it as my kid's first really expensive toy for $198.60 and my kid didn't play with it for more than five minutes before the wheels fell off. Mind you, this is just while he is watching the train navigate the snap-fit tracks.

(More customer reviews)Design of this product makes no sense at all, and consequently it is a big disappointment to kids and a huge waste of money. There are three cars that are part of this toy. A locomotive followed by 2 other cars. You would think they would have had the battery go in the locomotive, so that car would have the power and pull the other 2 cars behind it so it could operate in a straight line or stay on tracks. But no. Instead they put the battery in the second car, the one BEHIND the powerless locomotive. Result: the second car pushes the locomotive and causes the entire thing to jack-knife almost immediately, and to just go around and around in circles. Nothing can be done about it. My son's friend has the same train and his has the same problem. Just around in circles and won't stay on a track. I have no idea what the designer of this product was thinking, but it's a big waste.

(More customer reviews)Should have known better. Other trains of this variety cost 2 or 3 times as much for a reason. They were worth it. My advice, spend more for a better train set. It tells you something when trim pieces break off while you are unwrapping it. The motor gears were mis-alinged. It wasn't a cheap train set. It was expensive junk.
